Interior Design

Our team of accomplished staff is highly experienced in all aspects of designing interiors for older people. Over the last 15 years, we have built an enviable track record of delivering attractive, innovative and welcoming designs.

Carefully crafted to promote independent living and to realise the potential afforded through regular social interaction, our designs are the culmination of a close working relationship with builders, architects and housing providers throughout the build process.

Buildings we have designed have been recognised in industry awards every year since 2008, and our design for Belfast dementia care scheme Hemsworth Court was awarded the much sought after Gold Award by the world-renowned University of Stirling's Dementia Services Development Centre.

Design Concept Boards

In the early stages of the design process we produce a range of concept boards to give a sense of our overall design idea.
The boards illustrate the planned colour scheme, our wallpaper and paint suggestions, furniture and lighting styles, fabric swatches and flooring finishes.
Potential artwork ideas might also be included, along with any special design features, as well as tiling, worktop and unit finishes for kitchen and bathroom areas.

Space Planning & Floor Layouts

Space Planning & Floor Layouts

Using the latest CAD software, we create a space plan to make the most of the potential each room has to offer.
As well as designing a layout that is aesthetically pleasing, we use accurately scaled drawings, taking account of such features as pillars and boxed-in pipework, to ensure suitable access for wheelchair users and others with restricted mobility.
Floor layouts give an excellent early indication of how a room or, as shown here, a whole floor will look once the furnishings are installed.

Detailed Specification

Drawing on your client brief, we use our expertise to specify a range of key design elements.
These include paintwork and wallpaper choices, flooring finishes, signage, worktop and unit styles, as well as base and accent tiling.
Detailed specifications are provided for each of these, and also for any bespoke design features in your scheme, for example feature wall spaces, recessed display units or, as shown here, a dementia-friendly bar.

Lighting

Lighting

Fundamental to the success of our overall design is the correct combination of general lighting, task lighting and accent lighting.
We achieve this by gaining a clear insight into how each of the spaces in a scheme will be used so that we can create the appropriate ambience.
We provide a detailed lighting specification for use during the scheme's construction phase, before delivering those all-important finishing touches to the overall lighting plan with carefully selected floor and table lamps.

Bespoke Artwork and Accessories Selection

Once all the other elements of a design are finalised, our attention turns to the finishing touches: the artwork and accessories.
Each item is individually selected, taking into account the colour scheme, ambience and function of the space it will adorn.
Some of our artwork and accessory choices are also made to provide reminiscence opportunities, and the placement of both serves as a secondary aid for orientation and way-finding.
