New Build Extra Care Scheme, Staffordshire
Pencric is an 82-apartment extra care scheme in Penkridge, Staffordshire. The scheme is operated by locally-based Care Plus, part of the Housing Plus Group.
Completed in the summer of 2014, Stanbridge Interiors provided an interior design and fit-out service with a brief to deliver a high-quality, up-market hotel standard finish that would attract members of the local community to share in the use of many of the home's extensive facilities. We fulfilled this objective, delivering interiors of exceptional standard that bare comparison with any in the extra care sector.
Prior to construction of the main scheme, a show flat was opened to enable our customer to market their apartments.
We used vibrant colours, opulent fabrics and attractive, modern furniture and accessories to dress a living room, kitchen, bathroom and this bedroom.
The show flat proved to be highly popular, both with our client and prospective Pencric residents.
The entrance of this new-build scheme is spacious, bright and airy, with paintwork and flooring carefully selected to emphasise these attributes.
Half-height screening, thoughtful flooring transitions and colourful feature lighting combine to create a discrete café seating area, seen on the left of this image.
Finally, we sourced an historic image of Penkridge High Street, mounted it on acrylic panelling and hung this facing the main entrance for maximum impact.
Unlike most of the communal areas at Pencric, this lounge is intended solely for the use of residents and their guests.
A large room, we gave it a cosy, homely feel through our choice of warm colour combinations, comfortable seating with sumptuous scatter cushions, opulent window dressings and attractive artwork and accessories.
Through considerate floor planning, we created distinct groups of seating, allowing conversation to flow even when the lounge is at its busiest.
Known as Edgar's, after King Edgar The Peaceful who had connections with Penkridge, the restaurant is a thriving centre of activity at Pencric.
A variety of seating and tables provides flexibility for the commercial operator as well as excellent comfort for customers enjoying a meal, snack or a leisurely drink.
This hotel-style dining room has a range of bespoke feature walls, an elegant modern fireplace, a statement carpet and attractive natural and artificial light sources, as well as a decked balcony for residents and visitors to dine al fresco.
Games have played an important role in everyone's life at some point or another, and they are central to the design of this room.
With one half dominated by a full-size snooker table, the other half of the room is dedicated to table-top games, with comfortable seating in tones that complement the green baize.
To complete the look, we provided a collection of retro wooden games and play-themed artwork to create the perfect ambience for a lively hour or two of friendly fun and mental stimulation.
Health & Beauty Salon
Operating on a commercial basis, the Health & Beauty salon can only succeed by appealing to the local community as well as Pencric residents.
With this in mind, we created a chic retail space, incorporating state-of-the-art salon and spa furnishings, a high-end reception desk, and eye-catching display units.
Clients of all ages are enjoying hairdressing, nail bar and beauty therapy treatments in luxurious designer boutique surroundings.
